Expertise

Christy Allen, L.Ac., Dipl.O.M. has 20 years of professional experience in the field of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, and has the distinction of being one of the first Licensed Acupuncturists in the U.S. to be hospital-credentialed and accorded peer status with physicians at a major medical center.

  • In 1997, Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D. chose her to join the Clinical Faculty of the Program in Integrative Medicine, at the University of AZ College of Medicine in Tucson, AZ. Her ability to communicate the complex concepts of Oriental Medicine to physicians and patients alike has won her outstanding recommendations from all who’ve known her.
  • She has been licensed in MD, PA, AZ and MA, and was President of the Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine Society of MA from 2003-06. From 2002-2010, she established 2 successful O.M. clinics in Beverly, MA.
  • She served as an Advisory Board member of Acupuncturists Without Borders from 2007-08, positioning the organization for its international trauma relief work.
  • She has served as a popular lecturer at the former Arizona School of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, where she  taught advanced clinical concepts and demonstrated care as a Clinical Preceptor.
  • An outstanding speaker, she has lectured to Health Systems Pharmacists, the American Holistic Medical Association, and to prospective integrative Physicians at Canyon Ranch, Tucson. Reports featuring her early work in Tucson during the late 90's were published in Popular Science and the AZ Daily Star (Tucson.)
  • In July, 2010 Allen left the Eastern seaboard and re-established her home and medical practice in Tucson, Arizona. Renewed opportunities to link with old friends Dr. Andrew Weil, MD and current Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM) at the U. of AZ Dr. Victoria Maizes, MD led quickly to involvement with the CIM's forward planning activities. Allen served with Dr. Maizes and Medical Director, Dr. Randy Horwitz, MD on a select Steering Committee to create comprehensive plans for 2 new Integrative Primary Care clinics, in Phoenix and Tucson. She also contributed time to foster better understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine among established and budding integrative physicians at the U. of AZ's Department of Family & Community Medicine's period clinical roundtables; these linkages enable physicians to confidently refer clients for Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture, and to explore professionally new paradigms of collaborative practice.
  • In 2010, Allen designed Acupuncture research protocols for a University of AZ comparative study of bladder dysfunction in menopausal women; NIH's Institute on Aging funded the pilot study which is now underway. Christy Allen, L.Ac., Dipl.O.M. (NCCAOM) handles all of the patients in the Acupuncture portion of the study.
  • A much sought-after provider of in-depth clinical care in her private practice, she sees patients in the central Foothills area of Tucson, near N. Craycroft and River Rd. New patient inquires are welcome, although she enjoys a robust practice with limited space, and a waiting list. See www.EnerQiHealth.com for details.
  • As someone with incredible passion for what she does, Allen asks:

"How do we “re-wire” the body or mind of someone who has been disconnected to the Source of healing within themselves? How do we utilize what Nature has provided as medicine, in its most natural state? How do we put healing touch back into doctors’ hands? I found the answers in traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s incredibly diverse, cost-effective, and it works!”
